I think that's the equivalent of abstraction/encapsulation in programming languages. Sometimes even one liners can be encapsulated in something else as the implementation might change but the purpose/role doesn't.

Don't know, maybe not. It works flawless in mobile Safari, for example. Even though it's not intentional, I'm pretty much sure Google would be more inclined to say "hey use Chrome" instead of fixing it for Safari.

I can confirm. We have a normal Google doc (nothing super fancy) that spans about 10 pages at most, and when I scroll past about 8th page in Safari, scrolling becomes almost unusually sluggish and everything starts lagging.

Even many power users don't do extensions. I'm a developer, who is heavily into frontend stuff, and even though I tried many times, I could never get used to using any extension in my life. I set up a DNS based blocker and that&#x

I see. So I think I won't be giving it a shot too, at least for now. Let's see where Nova evolves, if it does. If it becomes some obscure hipster tool where developers with some niche need use, I'll leave it alone. If the bab

The buzzword soup from the snippets reminded me of the scene from CSI where they were "building a GUI interface in Visual Basic to trace an IP address".

All I'm getting a generic info page without scores, and when I click the button to show my score, it shows "Error posting feed", taking me to the initial page. Is the app broken, or am I missing a catch?

Starting from iOS 14 which was released just a few days ago (I don't know about Android side), it does. It also displays which apps have used camera/microphone in control center recently in case you've missed the subtle dot.

Yup, I don't trust Facebook either. But many regular users (not the people here on HN or reddit) don't even know that that means, let alone care. Facebook knows only a minority would make this an issue whatsoever, and they keep it

From what I can tell the startup time is more or less the same for both the built in camera app and the third party apps. IIRC built in camera used to start a bit faster in the past but that's not an issue anymore. The problem is that

It does, indeed. Not like constantly recording though. I think they apply some heuristics that keep the camera on in the background (e.g if you open on story camera frequently and on the main screen, but not while at a screen when camera is

Don't want to be the devil's advocate here but just because camera is on doesn't mean anything is being recorded. As an iOS developer who worked with apps that access camera frequently, I can confidently say that it's ju

I agree with most of your comment but as a constant Sketch user I'm NOT using any plugins, so that plugin dependency is a bit off IMO.

Does anyone have React Native + TypeScript development/debugging experience with Nova? I'm currently using Vscode, and I'm wondering if I should have a look at Nova for this. (Nothing wrong with Vscode, I'm a bit into ad

It really depends on the purpose IMO. If you are cross matching that data from other sources to track, it is "evil" (in the sense of people describe tracking people, I personally don't care). If you are using it for your own

Lucky for you, but that's not really the case for everybody. For instance, I have 35GB mobile cap and 100GB home cap. While I'd love to see a faster experience while clicking links, it would be considerably wasting bandwidth if al

More than half of the world still can't use IPv6 (including my whole country) due to ISPs not implementing it, so relying on that is not a good choice for now.

It doesn't appear to work for me. I tap a letter but it refreshes the page, goes to top, with no letter appended. Cool idea though, would love to see it working.

I've lost trust on them the day they were busted copying results directly from Google ( https://www.wired.com/2011/02/bing-copies-google/ )
