We will see. I thought this in 2015 when AI for computer vision was starting to heat up and NVIDIA was the clear leader. I was certain AMD would put in the $20 million or so it would take to catch up with CUDA and CuDNN at that time. Bas

It was a very close election. There are any number of things, that, had they been different, Clinton would have won. Trying to ascribe a single cause is fallacious.

This is an old thread, but I just saw your response. I think fitness is a fine goal instrumentally, and way better than just buying crap you don't need, but ultimately your six pack abs are still another trinket or token. The questio

I understand your point, but I have a little different perspective. Pilots are not engineers. Airline pilots are not test pilots. They drill the procedures, and they follow them. We'd all like to have Neil Armstrong flying our plane

Look, take it up with Boeing, not me. Here's the runaway stab trim checklist from 2018, before the accident [1]. Right at the very top, it says: Condition: Uncommanded stabilizer trim movement occurs continuously. MCAS produces an int

As far as is publicly known, the failure has occurred three times, and has led to two crashes. It is possible to recover from if you know what you're looking for and you act promptly. However, Boeing did not tell pilots what to look

Interesting idea. You see this sort of thing throughout the westernized world, perhaps not as extreme as SK, but I've never been so I can't compare. This is a completely busted system of values though... Almost everything you men

They also need to make everything public facing use the Fahrenheit scale. To Americans, 2 degrees doesn’t sound like too much, but 4 (3.6) degrees sounds like a lot more. Essentially zero people in the U.S. even know that 2 degrees C is a

Either way, having the arbitrage between the U.S. and Euro markets be 9ms faster does absolutely nothing for anyone's 401k.

This has happened to the U.S. with Iran Air 655. Ultimately shooting at an aircraft based just on a radar blip is inherently error prone. The biggest difference probably is that the U.S. relies more on fighters for air defense and usually

This was still a problem in the 80s after mandatory seatbelts came in and cars got narrower. Some people say that 3 across is too hard with a normal car but I’ve found that even with a small car you can get 3 in without much trouble if you

You can buy a car seat that meets the U.S. federal standards for about $60. Sure it won’t be as padded or have the maximum safety or have lots of cupholders, but it will do the job and be much safer than what I had as a kid.

I think it’s normal procedure in California when an evacuation is ordered for the police to go door to door making sure everyone is out. Regardless of the sirens, depending on mobile phones, which in this case did not work, is not good eno

It's pretty uncommon in the U.S. to board a plane from stairs on the tarmac. There's almost always a gate. I haven't seen the "gate for the front, stairs for the back" loading style in Europe, but I've seen t

I doubt it. Betting is very addictive to a lot of people and many won’t quit until they are cut off. When the sports book is in their phone, they will have a hard time resisting the temptation.
