It’s a big shift, but from a NK/SK standpoint probably the bigger issue is what exactly NK got in exchange for the massive ammunition deliveries and the tens of thousands of troops they sent to die in Ukraine. Whatever it is, it must b

This is a superb article. I’ve noticed almost everything he mentions over the past few decades and it really bothers me. After not going to church for a long time, after I had kids, I started attending again, and it has been great for the

The U.S. was buying Russian nuclear fuel because it comes from weapons grade uranium blended down to low enriched. The U.S. made a deal with Russia to reduce their stockpile of HEU and provide them with some cash. This distorted the marke

The incoming administration notwithstanding, I'd expect it to go faster than the COVID vaccine. First, mRNA technology has now been proven for multiple vaccine types, and I think hundreds of millions of people have gotten the COVID mRN

My understanding is that there is also some stockpiled H5 vaccine from years ago. Supposedly it's not a perfect match for the current strain going around in cattle but it's pretty good.

Has it ever been revealed what Amazon is using to back Glacier. I had heard a lot of speculation including some sort of custom optical disk. Anyone know?

Think about this: Cookie banners are only a small part of how bad UI wastes people's time. Computers could be so much more useful if more care was put into UI for widely used applications and OSes.

Tesla added back the radar and improved the cameras in HW4. My guess is that ultimately they'll converge to a similarly capable sensor/compute suite with Tesla improving theirs and Waymo paring down.

This used to be true with the original Netflix where they mailed you DVDs. They really had almost everything you could think of, you just had to wait a day or two to get it. I watched so many obscure movies, it was fantastic!

Jensen embraced AI way before that. CuDNN was released back in 2014. I remember being at ICLR in 2015, and there were three companies with booths: Google and Facebook who were recruiting, and NVIDIA was selling a 4 GPU desktop computer.

I’d like to understand the economics of size in nuclear reactors better. It seems like there are almost irresistible forces pushing towards bigger reactors. I’m looking particularly at the newish Westinghouse designs. Back in the early 2

I heard it speculated that maybe Tesla chose that location for their event specifically because it was outside of the Waymo area and they didn’t want a bunch of journalists showing up in Waymos to the Tesla robotaxi event.

I think this is about what you’d expect though. They say 2 1/4 lb soy patties build as much muscle as 1 1/4 lb hamburger patty. The soy patty I looked up had 28g of protein, and the hamburger had 40g. If that’s correct, the study

The range downgrade was a significant disappointment. If you figure towing a trailer cuts the range by about half, the Cybertruck at 500/250 miles would be not great but reasonable for pulling a camper on a trip, but at 300/150 m
