If this was good music I would applaud the ingenuity. However, it's handpan music, which I like, but it's so poorly recorded that it's... just wow. Bad. Lot's of annoying high end reverberation and a ground loop hum on o

I never said that the rich shouldn't be rich. I am implying that the poor shouldn't be held down. And I'm also arguing that having a healthy society with a functioning welfare system reduces crime and ultimately reduces thes

To me it looks like they saved quite a lot of engineering effort, and the price was lockin. Seems like it was probably a fair trade for them. At least if it's sane and well thought out it can be taken back apart and repurposed for some

Their system seems very sane. I'm jealous, and I hope it stays that way (sane, not static). It's also entirely dependent of features of AWS. I used to work for a company that had a very insane hybrid datacenter/aws deployment

My university's career coaching always told us to dress at the level of the workplace + 1. I think this is a good rule. You look good, but not awkwardly out of place. Perhaps it's an unfortunate social rule that we shouldn't

This is still done. The incidental sounds you hear in movies are often (or almost entirely?) dubbed after the fact, and are not from the microphones on the filming set.

You're misrepresenting the article. It's not so much about taking the videos down, as the recommendation algorithms pushing people in the extremist direction.

I see what you did there. Meditation has boosted my ego, in some meanings of the word, and given me a sense of self worth. It's also taught me that everyone is interconnected and self is an illusion. Those two things go hands in hand t

The data is fascinating, but the conclusion that this is somehow apposed to Buddhism is just absurd. A healthy sense of self worth does not stand in the way of eliminating the view of a separate, persistent self for the betterment of all be
