Interesting. I'm using Adblock Plus for Chrome on Win7 and was able to view the article just fine.

To echo shrikant, I also don't have this issue at my place of employment. Perhaps it's a setting at the administrative level? I can only agree with you that Skype for business is a pretty lackluster tool, and it's a real sham

I am, although I use the Xfce version. Back in the day, before I learned to program, I used distributions like Arch, Slackware, Gentoo, etc. that generally required manual configuration and knowledge of the system and Linux in general. I re

Why not respond like this to the comment I was replying to? doki_pen said "Many Americans believe in following the law no matter what" . Might this also be a tiny number of people when compared to the whole U.S. population? Speak

While the group of Americans who "believe in following the law no matter what" might partially intersect with the gun owner/advocate group, I'd like to add that there are apparently many 2nd Amendment folks who also beli

I was a "pest control technician" (exterminator) before I started programming professionally, so I know how you feel. My life now is a cakewalk by comparison.

I'm moving to Chicago in a few months. Are there certain neighborhoods that should be avoided on the basis of corrupt police activity? I wonder because I could see neighborhoods that are relatively safe in terms of civilian crime, but

Wow, I feel kind of dumb for admitting it, but I completely forgot to consider this as a possibility. I went to a somewhat smaller university in Michigan (GVSU), but I bet there are a decent number of grads working there. Thanks!

Thanks, I appreciate the suggestions. My problem is that I have very little work experience in the industry at this point (< 1 year), so I don't think any "senior" positions would be open to me yet. I am somewhat strongly

I didn't downvote you, but from what I've read (mostly here on HN), there are people in the industry advocating for easier work visas to bring skilled developers into the US to fill a talent vacuum. I'm not sure how accurate

Thanks, this is particularly useful information as I have a growing interest in all things embedded. My experience at this point is pretty minimal and is limited to messing around with an Arduino which, as I understand from reading about ba

While this is true, you're comparing a desktop OS to an enterprise OS. You're mostly paying for support from Red Hat for that $4200 price tag, something you definitely don't get with a retail copy of XP.

As the article mentions, the Turkmen are people in northern Syria, not Turkey, and have apparently had their villages bombed by the Russian military recently. A pretty strong incentive, I'd say.
