"At some point Perl 5.22 or one of its successors will make it into Red Hat Enterprise Linux. And at that point we have a problem." This made me laugh this morning, version 5.22 will probably be included in the 8.0 release? So we

One of the things i love about Erlang apart from the Concurrency model is their pattern matching ability. When you are parsing a lot of "structured" data, matching the data-structure and having it parsed into variables at the same

You can strip it from the code, its not too hard. The issue is with the release cycle, an having to modify the code each time. I wish they would just make a build without the crapware bundled. edit: to -> too

There is also this thing of legacy code... What if 3, 5, 10 years from now when you have moved on to your next super project, but someone has based system XYZ on your code. If they need to write a driver or similar, I'm sure they would

Yea, I just got one for managing plastic fabrication machines in some factory in the UK. When looking at why I got the offer, its because I had the words "Tooling Engineer" (title at current job) in my LinkedIn profile.
