Context: I've been working on a non-binary graphing app called FuzzyGraph ( https://fuzzygraph.com ). I had the rendering logic written in vanilla JS, and wanted to convert the rendering logic to GLSL shader code to speed thi

Infinity is simply the name for a process that does not end. Some of these processes increase faster than others (hence larger infinities). Personally, I also like the Riemann sphere model of infinity.

It's worth noting the "Two Sigma" problem on this topic ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloom%27s_2_sigma_problem ) - "the educational phenomenon that the average student tutored one-to-one using mast

I was public schooled Kindergarten, homeschooled 1st-5th, and public schooled 6-12th grade. My wife was 100% homeschooled. I think it was a good mix for me. And in retrospect, I think it was good I was public schooled for at least some of h

To understand recursion, you must first understand recursion.

Same... back in my day, people worked to reduce the size of mobile phones. Call me old fashioned, but I still prefer small phones, which is why I still have an iPhone 12 mini.

I'm not sure I've tried that - might good idea. I've actually been playing with all kind so of visualizations - I've done most of my art as stand-alone Python scripts. Here's an open-source starting point for doing

Thanks for the feedback (you and all the others - both positive and negative). HN is such a great way to present ideas to smart people. I may have been a little hyperbolic in the opening sentence, and may try to tighten up that language. It

Why would you say it's not a graph of y/(x^2+y^2)=(x+1)/(x^2+y^2)? I would argue that a conventional/binary graph is also not a "pure" representation of the equation, but rather one possible representation - on

Interesting. I didn't know you could plot like this in Desmos. Thanks for doing the work to plug them in.

To be fair, yes, there are some places where non-binary graphing has been done (like error gradient graphs in AI), but as far as I know, this is the first app where you can type in a basic x/y equation and get a non-binary graph.

I've been calling it "error" (the difference between the left and right side of the equation). But if there is a better term to use, I'd like to know it.

It is similar, except with a lot of fractals, the numbers being colored represent how many iterations are required to get outside of a set threshold (which indicates divergence).

Yep - it's just |left-right|^fuzzyLevel

I need to add more details about that. But it's simply: abs(left-right)^fuzzyValue

I did recently learn of the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Level_set concept, and it is a very similar concept.

Oh ya, I'm not saying it's the best software architecture for most apps. It only works for a small subset of apps.

Just thinking out loud here, but I wonder if the immune activity is not the problem, but some kind of destructive process that is triggering the immune response. A continuous onslaught of destruction tends to make things break down faster.
