But arguably what makes rust hard to write is the borrow checker which eliminates a lot of painful runtime debugging.

C++ might not be harder in theory but at least for me right now it is a lot harder to learn than rust. C++ just has so much stuff and different ways of doing things (of course, it's been in use for decades) that it I feel quite lost a

The AVX ALUs also go into power saving when not used and take a couple of cycles to switch back on, delaying the first AVX instruction. There is afaik even a paper on a side channel attack that uses this.

The cpu just takes a bunch of numbers and applies the same operation on them in one instruction instead of a bunch single ones. E.g. if you are writing some simulations/game code where you deal with 3d vectors a lot the use case is the

Extremely good for weight and extremely poor for volume. To reduce the gasses volume storage is usually either highly compressed (200-700bar) or cryogenic (30K), like in the space shuttles tank. In both cases the volumetric density is still

In Germany in the 80s the Transrapid, a maglev train was developed. Sadly, the technology was dropped in favor of the ICE, predominantly because that one could use the extensive existing rail network. The only Transrapid Line actually opera

Afaik the problem with air travel is not only the CO2 released from burning fuel, it's also the various byproducts getting deposited in the higher atmosphere. Synthetic fuels avoid the net CO2 Release but still have those impacts.

As a fan of epsresso I a absolutely agree with that fact that you should consider your own grinder and machine, but mostly for the massive increase in quality, certainly not saved costs. Even with second hand gear you are easily looking at

You can take a Canvas element and draw anything you like on it - even hardware accelerated 3d using webGL. I think there are some projects trying to (re) implement a 2d user interface, rendered onto canvas. However the issue id that you wil

I image most of these 'low level' approaches involve OpenGL which seems to be a bit troublesome on macOS. I can recommend to have a look at webGL, it's basically a limited openGL subset that is called from Javascript. Really
