Anyone know any good hosting options for little personal, experimental Rails apps that might not go anywhere (i.e. that I might well lose interest in but forget to cancel)? I’ve always liked Vercel’s approach for these kind of side-projects

I find the opposite. Being forced to consider hierarchical categorisation leads to a more powerful system in practice. It helps me create a mental reference to the item being stored. And it often causes me to see a better way to form an ite

We all agree most normal people have an aversion to killing. You're saying that having an aversion to killing stops people killing, which is a tautology. And then you say it's not about consequences. What's your explanation t

Why does the effect seem to be reversed when out in nature? When I walk in the woods, the visual complexity is arguably much higher than it ever gets in cities, even on a busy highway. But the mental effect seems to be rejuvenating.

It’s an excellent question, but I do think you can get valuable insights from seeing how a major political event unfolds in real time, as long as it’s something you’re interested in. It can help you to view the subsequent news bulletins wit

I must be a very specific kind of person. I love TypeScript, and loved CoffeeScript even more. I’m baffled by many of the comments here and excited to try Civet.

Isn’t this the same logical error as saying “I can always tell when someone is wearing a wig”? You are only counting the times when you can tell.

Just looked up the etymology of prestige and it’s interesting. It comes from Latin praestigium ("delusion, illusion"), then 1500s French prestige meaning “deceit, imposture, illusion”. In the 1800s it started to mean “an illus

Similar but different. Tree-shaking generally means excluding unused stuff when bundling for production. This actually deletes unused stuff from your source files, i.e. more for code tidiness.

This one does the same thing but with beeps, with higher pitch for heavier DOM updates. It’s not as nice as the geiger click but I’ve found it more useful for figuring out exactly where the UI is slow. https://github.com/tom
