"Microsoft was not immediately available for comment on the NSA's participation in Windows 7's development." - This totally sounds like someone sent an email, waited 5 minutes, and then posted this article.

The title of the post is exactly the title of the article, so I'd say it is very representative of the article. That the answer to the posed question is "no" is not misleading.

I agree, it frustrates me too that the W3C has moved away from XML for the HTML specification. I feel like HTML5 takes 1 step forward but 2 steps back. There are some great semantic tags and I love the multimedia support, but the move awa

Its great to see companies sharing what they've learned from experience about system architecture. So many times this sort of stuff is very difficult to plan out and the only real way to get it right is through experimentation. Having fir

There is no link with computing as in running a program. The link is the perception changing technology that lets us accomplish previously difficult tasks in a simple manner.

Another thing that they aren't taking into account over S3 is power costs, physical datacenter rent costs, and bandwith hookup. Still its probably a lot cheaper but important to note that they are comparing apples and apple cider.

I love that there is another reference to Born to Run on HN. I think that the book appeals to the hacker in us with the way Chris McDougall ignores any pre-conceived notions of running and just starts looking for what is the simplest ans

Isn't wikileaks sort of all about publishing technically illegal documents. It may be illegal in the letter of the law to publish, but if you expose illegal behavior that was actually causing harm to society then its ok. I'm not sure that

It seems to me that they are making way too many crazy assumputions. They are assuming that a civilization that can make a probe that lasts 50 million years would only send out 8 probes? That seems to be the wrong mentality. I would rath
