A VAX 11/750 was my 4th or so computer. Of course, that was after an Apple II clone, and C64, and a 286. They were scrapping it and I (my high school, but really me) ended up with it. Can't remember if I ever got it working properly, but

Have you used Alpha Five? Any comments on it? Glancing over the page it looks like it might be in the realm of what I am thinking of. As an aside, one thing that these type of tools often lack is integrated testing. Which is a shame, bec

Sure, but do you really want to mess with low level things like html (or even haml, etc) when all you care about is business logic? Not saying you are wrong, just saying I think there is room in that space for some innovation.

One thing that stuck out for me was the "I know a lot more than most of my peers" bit. You might see if you can find a company where you don't. I find the times where I worked with people that knew more than I did were a lot of fun, as I

I don't know if you can blame her for that - I seem to remember her starting about the time of the split, so it must have been in the works before she started. I felt the HP Way was alive at Agilent (at least at the time of the split).

Along the lines of the baby peeing one - my mom told me the trick (at least with boys) is to open the diaper and then immediately close it. Something about the air hitting them does it. I'll find out if that works in three months :)

The other nice thing is that, while each chapter builds on the last, you don't have to do them in that order. For example, you build your compiler to compile for the virtual machine you build, but they provide a VM to use also. This way

I highly recommend the "2600 Programming For Newbies". I worked through it a few years back and loved it. Word of warning, though - 2600 programming is particularly tricky, because you only have a couple of screen buffers, and each is a by

I'm not familiar with the startup scene in London, but the tech seen was awesome. I met some great people (managed to hire some of them), had some great conversations, and learned a ton. There was a lot of boozing, though. :)

This is a great suggestion. Ask yourself "as a pilot, what annoys me or what are tasks that I have to spend my time on". Maybe a site for matching up people up to fly together to events? Or logging your flight hours. (I am not a pilot -
