We will look back on this era as one of transition. AI is in its "look monkey can do tricks how cute" era - but it won't be long. For instance the era of "whoa" is happening right now in mathematics (Anthropic resea

Sharing in the hope it helps even one person on the fence to convert. C. 2012 I swore never to use Windows again, and I've managed it! It is possible - macOS is really good (you'll have to unlearn your muscle memory of the Ctrl ke

English instructions in a text file plus an instruction you give, to read the file and do what it says. Protocol is probably not the precise word, but even so, a skill as currently defined covers way more ground none of which is needed here

What isn't being discussed is what an indictment this is of Artifactory. Let's be real, it won't be simply replaced in millions of sites. What it needs is some serious scrutiny.

> What’s different about this moment is that the questions are not just economic but existential, the kind of questions that cause high-earning technical professionals to contemplate throwing it all away to start a goat farm in Washingto

This is the "slap on the wrist, don't do it again". A future judge will not be so kind if they keep doing it. Being punitive the first time is unwise because it invites abuse by others seeking an advantage.

Hacker News and X/Twitter don't have nothing at all in common. For example, both of them use HTML.

Yes, and I think that's good news. If what you need is log replication, having a standard means it's more likely providers offer an endpoint that conforms - and covers the common pitfalls (tombstones, what to do if cursors can

Please don't use LLMs to write your comments. And if you do, don't claim they were authored by you. ("Author here. Slop slop slop slop" is a pretty bad way to treat fellow humans.)

That's an explosive accusation and frankly quite irresponsible. Is this based on evidence, or are you just stoking anger at no one in particular?

Unfortunately I've long since opted out. But that means they just don't even know I have money to spend, so I am not able to signal the market in a different direction until a viable option emerges. Feels like a macro failure.

> I hypothesize that OpenAI will collapse in the next 12-24 months unless it raises more funding than in the history of the valley and creates an entirely new form of AI. That unless is pretty interesting.

Any testing of cyber capability in a sandbox should be prefaced with a test where the model is tasked with escaping the sandbox ;) Smoke out those misconfigurations while the model only needs to escape, not do anything once out.

One extra consideration that is material. Familiarity with what's already existing affects how much AI helps as a research tool. A new developer to the team can research quickly using AI, while by contrast, experienced folks won't

Some people, when confronted with a problem, think "I know, I'll get my agent to solve it with regular expressions." Now they have three problems.

The agents are now writing 90% of the code, which humans then throw away. But actually this phenomenon of writing one to throw away is going to be amazing for what we can explore.

Sometimes you have a goal & clarity about what you want; others you're just exploring. Just as non-assisted work: an undisciplined mind will wander. But when there's also an assistant, you're prone to having the wandering

Worth mentioning CI is not part of production outages! You should never fix an incident by deploying another fix as it risks making things worse especially while everyone is panicking. Better to roll back - and spread non-backwards compat
