I'd be very interested to see a compiler where you can force inlining. How does it handle cycles in the call graph? How does it handle code bloat because the inline keyword was used too often? In GCC at least, you can only give sugge

Inlining is great but it's generally finnicky and hard to control so when it comes to hot loops that matter you may as well do it by hand.

Or the law of opposites: you can't have hot without cold. Then again, you can also judge something as cold when it's hot, for instance a big loop inside a function that gets called once, and you're only profiling at the leve

I think in the absence of data, people see what they want to see such that it agrees with their worldview. Nobody likes to endure cognitive dissonance. Even in the presence of data people see what they want to see. Me? Well, some of the

RedHat's business is built around support, not around giving software away. Apple gives iTunes away, but it isn't their core business. GitHub charges for private repositories, etc.

If you need projects to attract downloaders, your source of income is advertising to downloaders, and advertising to downloaders drives away projects, then your business isn't perfectly viable, even if you make more money for a time.

I guess one of the problems with software that doesn't cost any money is that it's hard to build a business around giving it away. It sounds obvious in retrospect...

Jogging solves things A, B, and C. Banning a subreddit does not solve D and E. But, jogging does not solve D and E either. Maybe banning a subreddit solves some things like F, G, and H?

Cool, thanks for the details. So... what do you do about cycles? By "change" I didn't mean code change, I meant change in the information about the procedure collected during an iteration of the fixed point computation. But

If you're analyzing procedures independently, why is it interprocedural? Interprocedural just means that you use some information about another procedure. This is expensive because if the information about one procedure changes durin
