Microsoft wants ARM machines to be locked in Windows 8 mode, probably to block Android. From what I can tell, it goes both ways. Existing Android tablets are not Windows8-certified, so they won't run it. Microsoft being the runner-up in the

Maybe it's time for the web to switch to a model where revenue is not driven by clicks, but by actual transactions. It's harder, of course, but it would sanitize things a bit. Hopefully, bots won't learn how to pay. And if they do, well, it

What about: a scientific expedition to earth is expensive, so when it arrives here, the ship takes shore for a while, sends scouts, gathers data, and then moves on until another one arrives, possibly from another planet? Is it so far-fetche

Nope. Our technological advancements were not of the kind that categorically violate principles of physics as we come to describe since we have started doing "science." Do you really state that modern science does not violate any principl

New code doesn't use fixed function stuff these days. JWZ's point is that there is more than new code. Legacy code also matters, e.g. CAD applications. Those have little use for shaders. Frankly, your point of view sounds very game-centric
