Single, methodologically flawed, unreplicated studies have no business being publicised as scientific results in the popular media.

Maybe at least read the abstract. > Contrary to a widespread view, we demonstrate that Europe's lower inequality levels cannot be explained by more equalizing tax and transfer systems.

This is readable... if I zoom in. Might be good for screens that are extremely low-resolution, but large. Maybe something that isn't actually intended to be a screen or something.

Brains do not actually work very similarly to artificial neural networks. The connectionist approach is no longer favored, and human brains are not arranged in regular grids of fully interconnected layers. ANNs were inspired by how people t

Yeah, its not like the bank gave access to your account to the wrong person and now they're not paying you back. You did something with stuff you legitimately own and control and now you regret it. That's a big difference to me.

Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of the blackout? The point is to force people to use less electricity. All you're doing is cheating the system by stockpiling it before the cutoff.

It really is an indication that someone lacks critical thinking skills. To read satire and never question its validity implies they accepted it uncritically, never asked if it was plausible or reasonable, never thought if the source was tru

More interesting to me is this history on balloon animals: > The Aztecs created the first balloon sculptures using wildcat intestines, which were then presented to the gods as a sacrifice.

It seems like not a day goes by without someone writing an article about their experiences dealing with well-meaning, but none-the-less insane policies and procedures of the apple app review process.

While that has a logic to it, I don't think that's the logic or meaning of the terms as they are generally used in English. If you mean 98% cheaper, say that, not 60 times cheaper. Two times or three times the price means you mult

Because that's what "times more/less" means. 2 times the cost is 200% the cost. Half off is the price times fifty percent (1/2). A sixtieth isn't 60 times anything in any direction.

It makes no sense. 100% cheaper would be free. 60,000% cheaper would imply they pay you the cost of 59 books to take it off your hands. That's quite a sale.
