"I am in need of drastic personal changes regarding diet/exercise". This kind of thinking scares me. What's wrong with gradually moving towards a more balanced lifestyle, taking on one hurdle at a time? Whatever happened to eat well, sleep

I work a 4 day week on my day job and am switching to half-time in 2011. Funny thing is: I'd say I work something closer to 60 hours a week with the side-projects. I found it easier to adjust to the new standard of living by slowly weaning

I wonder how the reactions would have been if someone 'cool' instead of AOL had bought about.me. My guess is that a big part of the online rage is because of the "Beauty and the Beast" character of this marriage. s/AOL/Google/ and the react

Just sent out the mail, I love this idea. Really smart on the part of github: they understand that mixing free (for exposure) & paid/private (e.g. apps) projects is the future for lots of developers.

I'm not sure you can replicate this online, it seems to rely on a flash far brighter than any display tech can deliver right now.

Can't agree more to the "Say Yes" principle. A few weeks ago I posted a slightly panicky post about having to speak in front of a lot of people. YC support was great, I said yes, prepared well & ended up talking onstage at LeWeb. I even

Exercise. I'm not sure what it is about exercise (increased bloodflow to the brain?) but whenever I catch myself not exercising enough my creativity also tends to be at a low. I can really think a problem through when e.g. I'm skiing or swi

Why not? I'd say it's about time people stop being afraid and start pissing of the US, Chinese & European governments, no?
583.
by c1sc0 16y ago
Maybe you could alleviate the problem by introducing a distinction between 'writers' & 'editors'? Or maybe have people collaboratively write an outline then let a good writer write the whole story?

Can't upvote this enough. Somehow our idea of 'wealth' has become very skewed in the West. I see the same with my family in China. They have savings, are able to buy e.g. a house in cash while a lot of my family & friends in Europe are

I guess those people won't be out of work for a long time though. Auctions are booming in China, just not eBay ...

My way of thinking is that this actually provides a great opportunity for more enlightened individuals & organizations. If you embraced FOSS 10 years ago, you're at a clear advantage as a dev now. So it will be the same with this new ki

It's not just that it is hard to turn off your mind, it's that I find it extremely tempting to get up and actually code up a solution to the problem that's on my mind instead of staying in bed. Thinking "It'll just take 10 minutes & the

This misguided notion that the public can't handle the danger also applies to other things like terrorism. With the right mindset I think people could learn to live with the occasional plane being blown out of the sky. Life was far more d
