That’s how patents always work; the concept cannot be patented, it’s the method which is. Garmin for instance has their own (patented) method which works differently from the infringing Apple implementation.

If you read a scientific paper that talks about causation, you will see things like confidence intervals and assumptions. That’s what causality means, causal with some confidence under some set of circumstances and preconditions. That’s wha

That is simply not true except according to metaphysics. There are tests for causality in science which have no basis in metaphysics. This is why scientific conclusions about causality have thorough method sections and things like confidenc

Reproduction is not valued by the community in any way that matters. There’s no prize for reproducing, or failing to reproduce, others work. Getting a grant to do reproduction is much harder than getting the initial grant. Nobody is citing

This doublespeak of loving science in the abstract and totally ignoring it as applied to yourself is everywhere in academia. It’s one of the most profound disappointments of my adult life that the world is filled to overflowing with poser s

That’s absolutely untrue. Metaphysics is only required for causation by metaphysics; physics without metaphysics has causation. In many ways, metaphysics is just a self-referential annoyance.

Except in this case the vast majority of people have read the docs and then gone on to implement them correctly. I’m sorry that you wrote buggy code because you didn’t read. But it’s the height of arrogance to assume that because you did, e

There are induction cooktops which will heat a griddle the size of a half sheet tray, and will automatically sense when it’s there and turn on the bridge. They also have fewer hotspots than gas, which definitely doesn’t heat evenly on thin

Every apartment I ever lived in that had electric had a glass range. If you’re even a little careful it’s perfectly fine. It sounds like you enjoy performative clattering, and if that’s your preference then more power to you, but that’s hig

lol, no it’s not, it’s an NFC chip with an account ID on it. That allegedly encrypted hd is just a vhd stored in programdata that anyone can mount and read. It’s not a Kensington lock but it provides the same amount of data security as one.

Normal people are not going to do any of those things. If you force them to, they’ll lose the phone or wipe it or sell it. They will lose the physical key immediately, or break it somehow, or sell it. This is not a technical problem, and yo
