If to speak about UI needs then CPU rasterization is just half of the problem. 320 PPI display (a.k.a. "Retina") has 9 times more pixels than old, classic 96 PPI one. So just attaching new monitor will require 10 times better CPU

Sciter ( https://sciter.com ) then, as it is not like Electron - it is not using any web view at all. But it does use HTML/CSS in the same way as WPF uses XAML for UI definitions. Sciter allows to use best parts of two worlds

Yeah. 1. Tons of existing jQuery components. 2. Ten of custom, loosely coupled ones. 3. Built-in PubSub for their communication: $(document).on("custom-event", function() {...}) 4. Routing (if needed) in 60 lines of code:

"must not differ at compile time" not so, static declaration are local for the compilation unit so you may have as many different foo's as files you have in your project.

by c-smile 8y ago
In C/C++ static declarations are local to the compilation unit. So you will have two separate storages for foo - these will be two independent variables. That's how C and C++ work. And if you will have this (no static): int

All DOM update and layout algorithms are O(N) complex (at best). So as less DOM elements you have as more responsive your UI is. As an ultimate solution - to remove DOM at all and replace it by <canvas>. Minimization of updates is dev

Yes, oversampling will reduce blurriness but it will be there anyway. ClearType is there for the purpose. Yet all that with the price of memory and CPU consumption - number of pixels to rasterize on 192 PPI monitor is four times of the one

This effectively ruins ClearType and other text AA methods. In general <canvas> is acceptable for graphics but not for text.

Well, <canvas> is not the best tool for doing such things. <canvas> by its definition is essentially an <img> with its content (pixmap) modifiable from script side. Better solution would be for browser to support immediate

To anyone. Types are useful only if they can be checked/verified at compile time. Types in only arguments cannot be verified by compiler. So type mismatch can be checked only at runtime. So would be this: function foo(a:Number) {

Just argument types are useless. Either all variables shall have types and so static, compile time analysis can be performed. Or no types at all.
