Having some useful console tools certainly pulled a lot of people from Linux to macOS. The macOS GUI at least delivers a working desktop where "Linux on the desktop" seems to be eternally 'around the corner' for the last

I recently bought an OfficeJet 9020. Can't say anything about reliability yet, but at least the ink is not outrageously expensive (just normal expensive...). Installing the thing requires you to connect with an app that (thanks iOS 14)

Implementing a game engine can be an educational experience, so if the author wants to learn by doing that's just fine. Besides that it's a good thing there are more options in the open-source game engine space. Superficially Echo

If you want people to accept forced updates, just send the security fixes. Don't change the UI and don't mess with the users preferences, especially concerning privacy.

They also missed a lot of features. And IMO not needing the 'reveal codes' screen and having to clean up markup codes manually is the reason Word won the wordprocessor 'war'.

Depends on which desktop. On macOS it stands out like a sore thumb. Icons are almost monochrome and indistinguishable. Also, it does not feel as smooth as a native Mac app since it uses its own toolkit instead of Mac native scrolling etc.

Yeah. Red Hat even got the Eclipse Java IDE running on it (sort of, it was really buggy and a lot slower than running it on the Sun JDK of the time) After Sun made the JDK GPL it was abandoned very quickly.

About the soldering part: memory prices don't plummet as hard as in 2005 anymore, so when you need more RAM, just buy it. By soldering it you also make it more robust. Most DIMM troubleshooting begins with 'reseat the modules'

Easy with 20/20 hindsight, but back then Apple didn't know it would be a few months. Should Intel have had unforeseen trouble with the Core 2 and decided to delay the release they would not be releasing any hardware. Also, availab

If you're on macOS and iPad this is exactly what the 'sidecar' feature does. Needs recent hardware though since it uses the video encoder built in recent Intel CPUs to make it less laggy.
