It's not you can magically repair any Apple phone if only they made parts replaceable. The tiny amount of phones that can't be repaired due to 'world unstability' is probably irrelevant to the general climate/enviro

Apple supports and repairs phones for a long time. It's not about sustainability, it's about the price Apple charges for repairs. What is so sustainable about having and using the right to mount a cheap, bad battery that will have

It's not the parts that are locked, it's the phone that wants specific parts. If you give people the possibility to change their phones to accept other parts you instantly create a market for stolen parts. Maybe Apple should lock

It's the other way around: the phone only wants to talk to the parts it shipped with. Not with some knock-off battery that will also be dead in 6 months or TFT replacement screen for an OLED phone.

I think it's dishonest to call Apple devices not repairable because Apple offers a lot of repair options. If you want to promote independent repair centers and non-Apple repairs just state that. Otherwise you're just an independen

Everyone defending the X11 protocol nowadays should be forced to write at least one GUI app using just Xlib and Xt. I don't believe people are invested in the X protocol per se, but more the Xorg implementation that still offers a few

All new EU cars since 5 years ago are obligated to have 'eCall' which contacts emergency services in case of a crash. Most manufacturers solve that problem by including a 4G module. Older cars also collect information. Most dealer

There's more to a display than a panel. I don't think the raw panel has latency at all; probably only a pixel transition time which defines the fastest possible response but that is far less than 100ms. The rest is up to the '

The only reason we have cheap high-resolution 4K monitors is they use the same panels as TV screens. If TV's don't move to 8K, cheap monitors also won't.
