Main React has been pretty stable for a few years but the ecosystem to serve React bundles has not been.

The fact we got to a point of auto-memoization on every reactive function is crazy to me. How is that not prematurely optimizing? I already saw people doing useMemo on shit that shouldn't be getting called repeatedly with the same valu

But how many use _just_ React now? There is a whole stack that 90% of YC companies use: Node, pnpm, Next, React, doing SSR by default. Idk about it all. Most of the time when I ask why they do SSR they can't tell me a valid reason. The

I agree with that. I'm sure they do find genuine improvements, but they are often just trade-offs.

Things change so fast in web dev. Is it so hard to find a pattern that works and stick to it? I think the constant rewrites are honestly _worse_ for dev experience and security. Nobody knows whats standard and docs become outdated so quick

The fact this is already outdated by more recent Svelte releases which changed things drastically is exactly my problem with the modern JS space. So fast moving and most of it is still doing JQuery like reactivity. I am probably just not sm

Making "social room" is incredibly broad. I am fine with someone wearing what they want, speaking in a manner they desire, or stepping away if they are stressed. But I won't accept anything. It all depends on how large the ac

"Masking" to me just sounds like being a person. I want to tell my boss fuck you, but I can't. So I say I am frustrated.

You would still need to study or this would be super slow. When I went to China even after I did DuoLingo for two years I understood only super basic sentences and sometimes I even missed those because of accents. I couldn't learn &quo

It is getting easier and easier to fake stuff and there are becoming less and less fully trusted institutions. So sadly I think you are right. Its scary but we are likely heading towards a future where you need to pay to get verified inform

Interesting. What are the benefits of thinking of data pipelines in terms of a DAG? Why cant it be cyclical with exit conditions?

Will be interesting to see the data race between OpenAI and Google given the sheer size of YouTube. Nobody can beat that dataset size, but how Google utilizes it will be key to if they can win. Its a tough problem. How do you label / t

I miss the old HN. Now "news" is just randoms advertising their substack which isn't even related to tech or science. OP has literally only ever posted their own stuff and never made a comment on anything else here. The artic

Thanks! You are correct, when I did a dump with `xxd IMGP0847.DNG > output.hex` it wasn't showing up for some reason.... But your command worked (though my dd doesn't like hex values so I needed to get decimal via printf "

Thanks immensely. Very important detail, Did you find a 02 at 3E40B? I found 01 at 2FD00, but there was no 3E40B byte position entry. I did find something similar at 00003e40: 00003e40 02 00 04 00 0a 00 00 00 30 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 |..

Why is this helpful? Just add the executable itself to path and execute it with "something" instead of "git something". Why are we making git an intermediary ? I am kind of stupid and this is genuine.

I was so excited for this, but sadly it doesn't work at all, not even UI feedback for the error:( The UI showed literally no change. So I checked and the console shows: ``` Try: 14 Not Found 681-7df1b139fa2dc9f0.js:14:3379 Try: 15 No
