Nice! The 'の' (237 matches) is even better than 'は' (216 matches). The 'の' matches every Japanese spam in my Spam folder. I was not able to use comma 、 and the period 。 because I think FastMail disables searc

Wow, the first one 'は' seems really good. Out of 279 messages in my Spam folder, 216 messages matched that character, missing only 24 additional Japanese spam. (That means 240/279, or 86% of my spam is Japanese, god damn it).

Not just USPS and FedEx. UPS has dropped the last 3 of my packages to my neighbor's house. They try to be helpful though. They took pictures of the packages, sitting against various walls and doors that I didn't recognize at all.

Haha. Do you have a similar character for Japanese? Some douche bag added my GitHub email address into some Japanese spam farm a few weeks ago. I am now flooded with Japanese spam. I don't read or speak a word of Japanese.

Can you explain why you wrote '23pc' instead of using the '23%' that was used in the article? It is confusing to me. I had never seen 'pc' used as a short hand for percent (%) until recently in an article (can&

The problem is that 10x appears to be a linear scale. It could mean 9.5x to 10.5x if it's supposed to have 2 significant digits. Or it could be 5x to 15x if it meant to have 1 significant digit.

I think of "an order of magnitude" as a log scale. It means somewhere between 3.16X and 31.6X.

It's great in theory. In practice, it may not work properly even on their "supported" models. For example, sound does not work on my Dell E7270. Secondly, you must be willing use the Chrome browser. I will not because Chrome

Invisible scrollbars is probably the number one reason why I scream at the computer when I have to use Chrome instead of Firefox. At some point, Chrome removed the option to make the scrollbars visible. The UX people are completely insane

I always get the impression that people spend more time writing Forth interpreters, rather than writing Forth programs to solve actual problems.

Yeah, I remember reading something like that, but isn't the United app required to pay for the meal on the flight, so that they know which credit card to charge? To be honest, I have never been able to understand their payment process,

United Airlines used to accept credit cards to pay for meals during the flight. It worked great. At some point they dropped that and replaced it with something that involves their slow bloated buggy app that crashes on my phone. So I stoppe

Is it still a one-man operation? They used to have a blurb about that on their website, but I cannot find it anymore. The bus-factor of one was probably the main reason I did not choose them when I de-googled myself during Google's fia

I think it is difficult to make general statements about all "open source" projects, because there seems to be at least 3 different types of open source projects: 1) Small projects, owned and maintained by a single person, with ma

Me too! The problem with Golang is that it has the same name as a common verb instead of a noun ("go" is used as a verb like 99.99% of the time). I remember coming across a thread maybe 10-14 years ago where the Golang creators

Maybe you already know this and your comment was in jest, but the real reason is that the Go lexer automatically inserts semicolons ( https://go.dev/doc/effective_go#semicolons ) using heuristic rules which forces the op
