Refactorings and redesings could easily span 1k lines even for small projects. Yes, almost always you could make it incremental, but total lines counts would increase and it requires hard planing beforehand. Too much fuzz.

Generic robust replicated log would be nice to have. For two products I've implemented leaderless oplog to back application level replication to sync not only database changes but also configuration files and other needed data. Works l

Defined silent signed overflow (wrapping) is worse then UB. For UB there is at least runtime diagnostic. Parent clearly ok with `-fwrapv`.

Oh shi, not very reassuring knowledge spacecraft SW engineers allow signed overflow in their code.

> Saying “ninety kilobecquerel” and writing “90 kBq” is a lot more convenient than “ninety thousand requests per second” and “90,000 requests/s”. I think current norm is 90k rps (or qps, but it's clear in both cases).

Complains about Git's tag/branches difference is a high chance author left Mercurial boat before they made proper branches. BTW jj's documentation does a better job explaining what's the revs and changes are. My only gru

MQTT as a transport is a part of elaborate spec describing client/server state machine. There is nothing similar for HTTP.

HTTP is a transport. It doesn't have any other properties besides you could make a request and hopefully get a response. Semantic is defined by actual client/server implementations with corresponding backend.

I could add 2c. If you ever need to store some meta alongside the message in a DB. For example status, some execution history, etc. Then it's better to avoid MQ at all. Of course if you can scale DB access from workers and you can coup

Unfortunately I have no first hand experience with bisync mode. Only use rclone for pushing backups to clouds where it shines.

Same reasoning then should be applied for PRQL. My issue is unfair depiction of PRQL as "simple" and "concise". BTW most modern differs show changed parts of line which really helps not to bother with diff-friendly forma

It's not very good from prql devs to use artificially bloated (line wise) examples to show SQL is bad. from employees select {id, first_name, age} sort age take 10 vs SELECT id, first_name, age

Even small python program has enormous state beyond the reach of automatic reduction to TLA+ model. BTW TLA+ is not too hard for basic usages. I argue it's much simpler than PlusCal because doesn't have additional semantic layer

Yeah but in Zig there is flexibility how you want to handle the error opposed to Java. You don't need to rewrap everything in RuntimeException and error sets allows to specify extended set of errors without much boilerplate.

And what prevents to run stunnel on Linux? Is there a way to specify remote address or remote run to use TLS to wrap your application transparently in plan 9? Otherwise plan 9 on the same abstraction level.

These remote pipes are a largely a pipe dream due to very agile crypto scene. It requires a bloated spec to describe policies and be interoperable standard nobody would use. `command1 | ssh host process | command2` works perfectly fine.
