> People don't capture the full value of their labor (which makes a sort of sense, given imperfect information and how risk is allocated), I think it is primarily due to de-risking. You agree with your employer that the biggest perc

What was stopping Zillow from having a human look at the property and adjust the price based on factors that their algorithm didn't consider?

A CEO will answer Blackrock's phone call, not yours. Hedge funds can afford to hire analysts and buy information because they have many orders of magnitude more under management than you or me.

The author has a valid point in that the information asymmetry will attract sellers whose property is overvalued to sell to Zillow. I suspect though that something different happened in reality. I live in a 70 unit condo building, so there

I happened to cancel my Prime earlier this morning. They do make you click through a few pages. They validated my decision by showing how many free prime orders I had, and it'd come out to a wash even if I paid to expedite all of them.

That is an advantage for the little guy though. If I sell 10 shares when the price is $100, then I'll get $100/share. A huge investor selling 1,000,000 of the same shares might move the price to $98 and average $99/share. Obv

How robust is it to rely on the user mode program to look at /proc? Do you ever get timing issues when the process already exited or its PID was recycled? Also this part is incorrect/confusing: "When I ran ps aux | grep kafka

It is a sucky situation without any perfect solutions. Banning all Russian athletes is a clear decision. Judging everyone based on their individual reactions to the invasion is just not a scalable solution, and probably also puts those who

I'm guessing the payment processor has to swallow the losses in that case. It's clear from the FB post that Colorado is getting USD, not BTC.

Some politicians secured campaign contributions from the crypto lobby, that's all. I didn't see details on how much extra it'll cost compared to paying with a check/ACH.

What is a compelling use case for omitting values in hashes or method calls? I would think that it just increases cognitive load for the code maintainer, and makes the parser more complex.

I really tried by getting a nice System76 laptop from work, but PopOS is orders of magnitude more fragile for me than my Mac-s. In a couple of years of using it I've had my screen have random images drawn on it by the graphics driver,

Felt like a boxing match where Carlsen knocked Nepo down in the 6th game, and after that he just wasn't the same boxer/chess player. The next 3 decisive games had blunders by Nepo that would be bad for even the #1000 chess player.

Yeesh. I should've said that it was tried in the US and didn't catch on. Not having a tipping culture to begin with is great, but the hard part is to switch from tipping to not tipping without legislating it.
