There still is a lot of useful information posted on Reddit. Was it scraped somewhere for preservation purposes?

There need to be more strict settings for autoplay, not only for video and audio, but for huge GIF files too. I'd put them under "energy saving" settings, as reduced network activity would benefit for server too, not to menti

Did a bit more testing. Autosave feature exists, but it is turned off by default. Another good thing is that NotepadNext is rendering Japanese characters correctly, as compared to Geany, which renders Chinese instead. One strange thing, is

I was not expecting much, but AppImage startup time and responsiveness looks promising. Memory usage in GNOME System Monitor looks decent (AppRun.wrapped - 13.9MB, NotepadNext - 876.5 kB). Typing feels much faster than Linux version of VSCo

Where one can find an up to date list of obscure packages on an Android device with short description what it actually does and the impact if it was disabled/uninstalled? I'm especially interested in possible dependencies between

We should stop "speed-shaming" browsers and focus on websites, which negate all performance improvements made by browser developers by adding more useless features.

Are we coming to the point where it might be cheaper to handout e-ink displays with embedded PDF of your document, than printing a few pages?

Qt5 on GNOME desktop still has some issues on Wayland. They will probably linger around until applications migrate to Qt6. And that might take a while.

Font rendering in GTK 3 was pretty good, then they broke it in GTK 4, and even with new renderers fonts are not up to par with good old GTK 3.

I wonder how it went for Mudita with their "Mudita Pure" minimal phone? It is out of stock on their website and main focus is on alarm clocks.

While "honeypot" was mentioned in the title, there seems to be no useful outcome from caught bad actors, like reporting malicious websites, so browsers could block them.

If you ditch all "support" libraries, your webview Android application can be smaller than 100KB. And it will build much faster too.

Here is an idea: use Mapsforge binary format for map data. Map sizes are quite small, especially useful for not to huge areas. Implementing HTTP Range requests might be an interesting exercise in reducing bandwidth usage.

Why not replace "x" (close) icon with "i" (information) icon? Result is practically the same, and it wouldn't make people angry. And on the "in the long run" part: if dark pattern stays for too long, it ri

But that internet connection is usually shared between many devices. Kids watching their youtubes, wife catching up on her tv shows, washing machine uploading gigabytes of data to some unknown remote server.

Why not have single generic "Atomic" version and provide desktop environment as selection during installation? Like Debian does. Or is DE so tightly coupled into images, that it cannot be replaced?
