There is no competitor, it's an initiative from the state cuba. It's also not like it is heavily advertised. It just was basically the only option until now. I frequently use airbnb, so i know that it's great. Just saying tha

Especially since an open source client, can be fixed on the client side. No reason to include nasty hacks for buggy clients.

Not sure where the Singapore bashing comes from on HN. It doesn't sound like most people have been there, yet still comment on how strict it is.. And the bubble gum thing.. geez.. Actually, i never felt safer in any city i have been.

What i never see is how much servers/hardware/resources they are spending. It's _always_ like "we process a quadrillion messages per second" but it never mentions that you'll need a quadrillion expensive server

Disk space may be cheap but limited. It just makes no sense whatsoever to just put a lot of files on my disk i will NEVER care about. NEVER. And if i need them, i will install them. Usually i only want a freaking binary to run.

I frequently write documentation with sphinx, over 30 pages long. rST is a blessing for me. Markdown doesn't even get near. It's fine for some 20 line README on github but that's about it.
