+1 Unexpected surprises can be dangerous. I feel like safety related systems really should be as simple as possible. I like ABS but in one of my vehicles I had an issue with it randomly engaging when it shouldn't due to rusted and crac

Loved the audio. I thought this was a serious library and was wondering why anyone would use it for something so simple until it started to play music.

I left software shortly after college to start an auto detailer business due to not liking the job. 3 years later, I'm back in software and couldn't be happier. Sometimes you can't appreciate the good aspects until you'r

The only thing I don't like about crank windows is it's hard to roll down the passenger window while driving. I've actually got 2 cars with crank windows and am in the process of converting one of them to power windows just b

I'm optimistic within 5-10 years we'll start to see the rise of open source tvs that'll save us. I have no sources to back this up but seeing the release of several open source laptops gives me hope.

Warranty doesn't mean much to me. I'm an outlier who enjoys repairing their own devices. I recently repaired a week old laptop that arrived faulty (trackpad was messed up) instead of mailing it back. I'd only cut the antennas

Thank you for posting this! I run linux on two XPS 15s and I love them but after manually repairing one and not being able to easily find parts for it it left me a little salty. My next laptop will most definitely be a framework one! Your s

I think this is a lot more common than we realize. I've noticed some men as they age seem to prefer DIY solutions over pre-bought solutions. I think it might be a mix of enjoyment, or self-satisfaction from coming up with a new solutio

Has anyone reached out to the Governor of Missouri for his opinion on this? Instead of changing chromium we could just prosecute the students. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=28867562 https://arstechnica.com

Spot on. I drive an old Cherokee and I love it. I hope to someday convert it to electric when the time comes while retaining it's utilitarian design.

As a resident I'm curious to how this will play out. I have no strong opinions either way but I feel like it's going to be a long legal battle. The current ongoing thing here is that the power company wants to build a power corrid

There's plenty of cars out there that mechanics think are designed like junk yet drivers (users) still buy / use them. (Not sure where I was going with this)

For a long time now I've been naming my computers things like "LG Refrigerator" or "LG Microwave" as a joke. I thought it'd be funny if someone was ever checking the network and saw them pop up. I'm bummed

I run a one man business and love to blame things on someone else. Scheduled too many jobs this week? Friggen boss is overworking me again. New business cards have too small of a font? Ugh, I need to have a talk with my designer.

The bots can definitely be frustrating. I like to stick to smaller subreddits as they tend to be more authentic. Usually anything under 100K subscribers (with exceptions) can be really enjoyable to lurk + a great source of info.
