Huh? Seriously? Maybe the little Sonos One isn't, but they make some hardware that rather clearly outperforms the Homepod.

Why are you so sure that shorthand will provide the same engagement as handwriting, and not closer to that of typing? It seems plausible to me that the difference could mostly be explained by all the superfluous effort of handwriting.

For what it's worth, this lack of complexity was also a lot of what led us to build COVID Shield/Alert in React Native too—the app doesn't have to do anything especially weird; most of it is just relatively normal UI stuff.

Bought the book and trying out the lesson 1 notebook, but man, I can't seem to make this work. Colab can't import fastbook with the GPU runtime, and the TPU and CPU ones are too slow. Gradient gets a little further, but fails with

Absolutely. This quote from Westworld articulates is nicely too: "The self is a kind of fiction, for hosts and humans alike. It's a story we tell ourselves. [...] There is no threshold that makes us greater than the sum of our par

Adults and engineers both hate things sometimes (tone policing, for example). Both sorbet and RBS have put huge amounts of effort into bolting type systems onto ruby in ways that don't run afoul of Matz's categorical and in-princi

If we're going to add type signatures to code, having them visible alongside their definition site is a sizeable part of the value; and, littering directories with doubled files feels suboptimal to say the least. The comparison to type

I absolutely hate this. Separate files for types with no inline annotations possible? What an embarrassing compromise. This is all because Matz explicitly won't allow type signatures in .rb files. I wonder how long it'll be until

Nope. 1L of gasoline produces 2.3kg of CO2 (3ish if you include production and transportation). That’s about 5.4 US cents in high quality offsets (CAD$24/ton on less.ca), or US$3/L for active carbon capture with today’s experiment

I use it with a T6s, along with CamTwist. It looks like it's bad latency and resolution initially but but you have to open the Preferences in CamTwist and increase FPS to 30 and size to 1920x1080.
