So according to that (or a quick skim thereof), it's not the overall colour temperature, but the intensity of absorbed light in the ~480nm range. In other words, dimming the screen should be at least somewhat effective.

At my school, it was made very explicit that you'd be immediately expelled for plagiarism (subject to appeal, IIRC, but yes: One strike.)

I haven't read any research on this, but this feels incorrect. If this is true, staring at red-tinged floodlight should do less to keep you awake than looking at a blue LED with masking tape over it. It feels more likely that this is r

But if you've done: "$(fgcolor red)red text$(fgcolor green "green text") what color is this?"... then it would have to model a stack on top of the actual underlying implementation, which does not have any concept of

I've found all the hate surrounding this practice to be pretty misdirected. As long as it's served over https, it's functionally equivalent to "download and run this random package installer!", which is generally to

Worth pointing out though, it's far easier to keep a github mirror of a git repository up to date and correct than from other VCSes -- so even though people wanting to send GCC PRs on GitHub will be disappointed, it's still a win

It's a fun thought experiment, but the illusion of self probably didn't just spontaneously arise in humans; it's much more likely to be an adaptation from hundreds of thousands of generations of natural selection for a more i

The salient difference for me here is that the brain has a holistic factor: Individual brain cells are not self-aware, or intelligent in any capacity. A whole brain is both. Individual humans in The United States are aware of both themselve

It's probably so that people don't accidentally publish something they intended to DM by tapping the spacebar twice after the command. It'd still imagine it should be allowed from a full keyboard, at least.

Same experience here. For me it was two realizations: 1. Focusing awareness via meditation techniques is a great sleep aid. 2. When your mind is buzzing, it's because it thinks it needs to work through problems or solidify memories bef
