I think you're both right. Once trained, someone who can fly a 747 can also fly an A320 or an L-1011 since they know how to fly a multi-engine plane. Programming is similar in that once you "get it" the skills transfer easily

The data still has to get out though. If LibreOffice doesn't have network access then that can't happen, at least not without an attack on some other systems as well. This protects against generic sort of "drive-by" atta

I imagine AppArmor is configured to minimize the access that LibreOffice has to the rest of the system. Otherwise yeah, vanilla LO is probably not any better than MS Office. VServer or similar could also work well but might be harder to con

$30,000 seems like a lot unless you live in a very rural area. Where I live in Michigan it's $1,410 for a hookup within 500 feet of a road. Why is it so expensive where you are? Also, fiber would probably be pretty cheap once the infra

The Soviet Union had a bunch of engineers in their government too and they made all kinds of stupid decisions anyway. I don't think the composition of the government matters as much as its structure and as governments go I think the US

I guess I'm cheap then. I have no interest in paying any amount of money to read most of the things I read online. It seems to me that it's not so much that people are demanding this content for free as it is that people don'

There doesn't need to be a "function;" the conclusion of the paper puts it pretty well: "In summary, compared to nondepressed indi- viduals, depressives are “nay-sayers”. Depressives may be sadder but they are not wiser;

Agreed, although maybe this is what they want to happen. If you use their bandwidth and they don't make any money off your visit, then they probably don't care if you never come back. I'm like you though; I actively avoid rea

I was wondering about the price too. If the bandwidth is actually going to be as limited as the numbers in this article imply then it'll probably be out of reach for most of the people who need it.

I think people are hopeless because while we are starting to move in the right direction, it's probably too little and too late. Moderation of CO2 emissions might have been enough 20-30 years ago, but now we need immediate radical acti
