Not that you’ll agree, but cleaning the house sounds more like running rm -rf /tmp and docker system prune than upgrading from idk, bullseye to bookworm. Let’s call that a bathroom remodel? So sometimes you live in a historic house and

It honestly makes sense. You are paying for the pressure engineering, and can take advantage of an off the shelf camera system. Maybe use a special lens or filter or something but why bother customizing the software/hardware of the cam

Natively it’s coming off the sensor like everything else, raw 8-16bit values. The OS then takes that stream and packages it into whatever, which on iOS can be a DNG, optionally pre-debayered with ai stuff in it (proraw), or just a standard,

If I am not mistaken, the anarchist school of thought is okay with governance and even governments, but not with the concept of the state - an entity that exists to enforce governance with violence. For example, https://en.wikipe

I love my ultra 45, it’s certainly the best looking of the early 2000s unix workstations! I lucked out and got a system with 16GB And 2x procs, added in the XVR-2500 and PcPro to play with. It’s also ex-Lockheed Martin which is fun/mil

100% this would never be practical, more wondering if that technically, it’s possible. Which it seems to be, thanks for the reference!

It's probably worth it for university though. Back in the day working as a Student Employee for the CSE helpdesk, we ordered overnight replacements for so many laptops and servers an it was super slick and automated, replacement parts

Meanwhile on linux, do I use netplan or NetworkManager or Systemd, maybe /etc/network/interfaces? On the other hand, the lack of broad HW support means that my FreeBSD server burned 2x more power at low to mid usage levels th

Interesting, that article says llama.c not llama.cpp. I actually got llama.cpp going on a G4 awhile back, I guess I should write that up. Edit - I just can’t read, original article was llama.c Gotta push my powerpc llama.cpp fork now for su

Oh someone else is as silly as I am? I hacked this together a few months ago as well! I guess I should have written it up. I’ve been getting llama.cpp going on various weird, old systems as I can and qwen3.c where llama.cpp has no hope. So

It’s not uncommon to eat nettles in the PNW! I knew people who would fold the leaves a specific way to break the stingers off so you could eat the leaves raw even.

I really hate how often modern UIs forgot that sometimes a folder might have _literally Cthulhu_ (A.K.A 4 billion 1kb text files) in it and will absolutely fall apart - looking at you cursor.
