Not sure why people are downvoting this - my partner is an MD and uses uptodate literally every few hours, when she's at home - I'm sure it's higher at the hospital/clinic. Some Doctors are checked out/lazy/mak

Yeah most phone sensors have high enough readout speeds that this is the best way to handle shutter lag and also computational photography needs. To my the best of my knowledge though, all cellphones still use rolling shutters, just fast on

It's nuts. The sensor can dump 6GB/s of data!!!! I can't wait for a digital back based on this tech - Phase One has an industrial body with a global sensor but it's dynamic range limited sadly.

I also know of someone who worked on an implementation of it for an Internet service provider ;)

How does CALEA work in the USA ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communications_Assistance_for_... ) Does it fail on HTTPS communications or is a similar "rogue" CA that allows law enforcement to decrypt traffic

or “unethically” (depending on your ethics!), you could just _say_ you have a competing offer. Unless there is like some secret hiring manager slack where people ask each other “did you really send that person an offer?”.

Be extremely careful and document everything - this happened to me with Amazon when I ordered a high end graphics card, and got an empty box. They said to send it back, but when they got it, forgot all about the part where I said the item w

No, I have a Camera Link PCIE card that causes any system I put it into not to boot. So it could be the card. But also, AMD firmware is...interesting... based on my experiences with Epyc motherboards.

Figuratively everyone skis in Seattle. Like, you need to reserve parking or get shuttled at Crystal these days it’s so busy.

Well that makes some sense for training professional drivers, which most people are not.

NB: this video is about motorcycles which have different dynamics than cars. I still think the point holds that in panic situation, it’s better to keep the reactions required simple as possible. Tangential query - is the difference between

Yes, it’s a very different paradigm than typical programming. By default, everything in hardware happens at all at once, unless you add what’a called sequential logic, which is clocked and holds state.

Interesting! I did not know that.

Just tried this, it's 30% slower. 24GB of GGDR6X is $$$$. Especially if they are double density chips, to keep the RAM on a single side, important for cooling! Again, NVlink is not required for 99% of people.

Yeah really hard to measure, but the thought of little bits of plastic melting back into the pan makes it worth the 5$ to "splurge" on a nicer scrubber that causes less anxiety haha.

Manufacturers do segment the market, but also a 4090 is a totally different, cheaper piece of silicon than an H100. Not really just a price increase. HBM and the requisite packaging is very very expensive. Why does CXL not make sense? Coher

Huge memory impact, that never goes away - if you turn of dedup, you still need the massive deduplication map in ram for things that already where deduplicated.

Extremely toxic - https://www.science.gov/topicpages/p/ptfe+fume+exposure.html... . It’s funny, if you are into 3d printing a huge safety thing is not heating your hot end above 250c if you have a bowden tube - mad

FYI scotch-brite pads are plastic and shed microplastics into your pan. As a replacement, there are coconut fiber based pads that work better actually.

Your PC can't use the GPU memory bandwidth for the CPU whatsoever. So why would you add the bandwidth?
