Its passed the return window, I’m sure I could make a warranty claim (and then be stuck with the same issue). Luckily it was just one and I paid 200 total for the card and chassis :)

To me, what getty is doing is actual theft. How do you “accidentally” issue copyright claims using images you don’t own? How did getty start claiming this image as their own? In contrast, training an AI model you download a piece of info on

Getty often makes false claims and generally is a super shitty organization, for example (there are many): https://www.latimes.com/business/hiltzik/la-fi-hiltzik-getty...

Literally just watched an internal talk about this topic at work (Microsoft). Lots of cool internal research to make things better in every domain, but as you said, it won't be shared that much. The Open Compute Project is great though

Gigabyte denied my warranty in the past for a missing sticker, so it’s nice to see the FTC stepping up here. Tons of companies do this and by default will deny that they have to comply with the law, sadly.

"The guilty plea would brand the planemaker a felon and could complicate its ability to sell products to the U.S. government. About 32% of Boeing’s nearly $78 billion in revenue last year came from its defense, space and security unit.

And if it is, good luck scaling LBFGS to anything useable, like vgg-16 scale…let alone a 7B param LLM. Back in grad school I tried to use LBFGS to optimize a small lenet network. I want to say it used over 128GB before OOM.

I'm curious - did the people testing space nuclear weapons predict the intense effects? AKA killing 7 satellites and more impressively to me, causing an aurora seen from New Zealand to Hawaii (!!!).
