Good point about multicast - BT use it in the UK on their fibre/ADSL network to deliver live TV to their set-top boxes. I have never understood why it's not supported cross-ISP.

I have one, in the glinet router i've got in our motorhome. It's fantastic - UX is shit for adding a new eSim (need to take a pic of the QR code) but once it's working it's great. No idea why it needs an adaptor though -

I didn't know about any layoffs as I don't really watch them, but am not surprised. Lots of overlap. I did check their careers page just now and there's hardly any tech roles in there so it does track. Am still annoyed about

I'd rather learn how to rewrite Git in Go tbf, if only to explain Merkle Trees. Isn't blockchain last years grift? It's all AI grifting, now.

Surprised this doesn't mention meticulous.ai, who seem to spam HN with "we're hiring!" each month but i've never heard of anybody using them, nor do LI show any new employees. Hey Gabriel, what's going on?

Ha, I used to work at WH Smith HQ in Swindon. The warehouse people used to nick the cover disks from the magazines and sell them. And each loo on each floor had a fresh new porn mag in the cistern! Don't even get me on Tales of Farthin

There were many dodgy schemes in the UK years ago ("free solar panels! cheap electricity!") where people didn't realise there was a mortgage on the panels for 30 years+ which was now in the deeds of the house and made mortgag
