probably not so much hypocrisy as lack of consideration. Even though the energy benefit from making apps e.g. twice as fast isn't so big, it's worth giving a try for the time savings.

it's not small. even if a show HN doesnt even reach the frontpage it s decent traffic, and , depending on the product, can be pretty relevant too. one could do the math to figure out how they came up with this $2 / upvote price -

people will bike to work to "save the environment" but won't use C direct on metal to reduce the carbon footprint of their code. For a guy like Carmack, it may be quite frustrating working with the constraints of pytorch etc.

most apps didnt, but the consistency was much better with 95. The major user-facing changes was the taskbar and right clicks. It felt really consistent and made sense as a whole remarkably better than previous versions.
