I'd say VPSs are great if you're CPU bound, okay if you're memory bound, and terrible if you're disk IO bound. Basically, CPU time is an abundant resource that's easily partitioned, but can be shared. So, you're guaranteed your share, but y

Is that really Google's problem? I mean I realize there aren't a lot of great engineers, but it seems to me that their primary problem is that they are no longer the "hot" company to work for. I think all companies reach this point as they

64bit only is a significant disadvantage for lower memory VPS's. I'm not sure what problem you're trying to solve wrt including a kernel or whatever, but running 32bit gives you substantially more memory for applications.

You should actually be rooting for telco competition. Look at areas where Verizon FIOS and Comcast compete head-to-head. Not only is the broadband excellent quality, it's price competitive with almost any other European/East Asian nation. T

These would have been far more interesting if they focused on newer, less established companies and products. Everyone already knows exactly what Twitter, Facebook, and the iPad are and no one cares if they win awards.

Not sure what your point is. The worst of effects of nuclear weapons weren't known at the time (yes, killing all those civilians was terrible too, but worse things happened in WW2). Here's a few questions for you: who has a leader that biza

You think it's inevitable that Israel gets nuked? I find that very unlikely, especially since the attacking nation would definitely be destroyed as well. Iran doesn't want nukes so that they can destroy Israel. They wants nukes, because obt

I didn't make the original claim, so I don't see why it would be my job to prove or disprove it. That's sort of beside the point though. I'm just tired of the ridiculous amount of misinformation in the diet, nutrition, and exercise fields.

I do. Unless you're starving, your brain pretty much only runs only on glucose. That means that whatever you eat, good/bad fresh/packaged, whatever, just gets converted to glucose. Assuming you're getting basic levels of required vitamins,

Not sure why that would matter that much. Our ancestors experienced tooth decay too. Of course their adult teeth only had to last 20-25 years or so.

What specifically separates Glenn Greenwald from all the other talking heads except for your own personal political view? I mean, he's pretty much the definition of a pundit.

If your point isn't that "Wired has committed journalistic errors", you probably shouldn't name your piece "The worsening journalistic disgrace at Wired". But really, that's exactly what Greenwald was saying and I think this response pretty

Religious charity also doesn't really explain it. Even if you removed 100% of the U.S. charitable giving to religious organizations, they would still easily rank #1. My guess is that it's mostly cultural. For example, a lot of large employe

To be honest, right now, it's a pretty bare bones wrapper around the actual canvas API. Maybe there's more to come? What can it do that you can't currently do with one or two lines of normal JS?
