No doubt, the hasLayout IE issue comes to mind whenever I think of implementation bugs. Implementation bugs are the worst.

I love my Android phone and I love developing for it but I sort of think that sometimes we have a little bit of Stockholm syndrome when I hear another Android developer say "fragmentation is great!." It really isn't, especially not with the

Interesting about the gun to your head anecdotes is that they'll only ever be told by people who survived these kinds of encounters.

This solution doesn't work. This has a overlapping shadow issue right around where the arrow pops out of the box. It doesn't look as obvious on that tiny shadow you have, on wider shadows it is glaringly obvious and looks terrible.

Change your password if you have a Twitter account. Change that password where ever you use it. They may not have released the full list of passwords they actually have access to. I recommend 1password for managing passwords so that issues

As I mentioned, I only opened a single page. This page had no JavaScript. I only loaded it once. I only have Firebug, 1password and xmarks installed. But it doesn't matter, Firefox is a slow memory hog, it has been since 1.5.

On Sunday, using my latest version of Firefox, I opened a single page loading it only once to check how it looked in Firefox. Then I forgot I had Firefox open for the rest of the day. Eventually my Macbook Pro became slow and looking at Act

I realize there is more to the deal than just the Nook Color/tablets, but I think it is interesting to imagine that either the Nook will continue to run Android and Microsoft will now be involved with selling Android devices or existing app

I am a Python and JavaScript developer myself, recently getting into Go, but I took a look at Ruby not too long ago and was really impressed how beautiful Ruby code looked. I do not really have a reason to use Ruby, I feel like Python and J

When would you replace the background image positions? Wouldn't it be easier to do that in one place than many? You don't have the sprite positions until you generated the sprite.

The ideal sprite system is one that is automated. A script that grabs all the images in a folder and makes a sprite, recording their position and name and then replacing the Less (or Sass) variable definition for each image with the stored

If I can't use vim, I'm not "at home". I don't even know the bindings of things I do, they're just muscle memory at this point. 20,000 years from now, if we've survived this far, you'll find Pham Nuwen hacking away at some backdoor program

I could not switch away from vim for some kind of meager and broken vim-ish interface. Apparently "vim bindings" just means jklhiI$^0/ support, as if that's in any way able to approach an iota of what makes vim great. Don't even bother with

This is a poorly written blog post. I am not at all convinced of anything. The only reason I could think of for it having appeared on the top of HN is that it mentioned Pieter Thiel and Ron Paul.

If you are caching private information you are going to have a bad time. The expiration feature is misleading. It will only run when the site with the library is loaded. So if you're in a random internet café checking your email on a site t

This is the home page of Amazon. It's data driven. Every pixel is probably calibrated for sales.

Beyond the new header, the giant grid of products below still looks pretty ugly. It's probably based on sales, and it makes sense to not lose any money for looks but it's a little depressing to think that an uglier design gets more sales.

No, that doesn't work when you're comparing something to a tragedy. You can't ignore the seriousness of the matter without it being a statement all in its own. The kind of comparison made in the post is hyperbole.
