The nature of programming is that any consensus solution can be automated. That's a good thing.

Do you think a higher % of first time visitors come in on mobile? I'd worry that you are losing an opportunity to make a great first impression. Some people see a great responsive site on mobile and think "yes, I love when sites work like t

Would love a detailed pg article on what ventures should be nonprofit vs forprofit. If this is a viable model, presumably some startups could go either way. (Open source software?) I think it would help to have more of a community consensus

FWIW I majored in computer science at a major school, though admittedly I was a shitty student. I spent more time building things than going to class.

Agree directionally, but comparing professors to veterans is tough. People get mad that veterans can't get any jobs, or end up homeless with PTSD.

Wouldn't you want to remove extraneous software eg. a compiler from a dedicated database host for security? (Yes, Python could be included in that as well)

Agree. This is just speculation, but JavaScript classes also seem like they could be easy to mess up, particularly for a beginner web developer. I think there's a lesson from C and C++: don't add complexity unless it's absolutely necessary.

What kind of apps would this help with? JS is never going to take over on the server for me until it can compete with Python's statistics support, I didn't see much in these slides that suggests it could.

Don't wait. First, no guarantee that stuff will actually get adopted, it's still quite abstract. Second, even if so, it will take a while for browsers to catch up, so people will be coding in current JS for a while. Third, much of the curre

If you are refactoring your app enough to need a different class of joins, you'll probably need schema and data migrations too. I think no-schema fits agile quite well. For rapid prototyping, I prefer Mongo to even sqlite.
