Russ is one of the best technical writers I've read. I've only gotten through half of this book, but I've read his design patterns book cover to cover and it is fantastic. He recently did an appearance on Ruby Rogues for their book club ep

I think you need to take into context the difference in 20 years here. Back then there was no concept of digital photography or gps or bluetooth, etc. As technology evolves, then many of those improvements naturally contribute to enhanceme

I'm surprised that it took this long for that video to show up as evidence. The only thing it does not demonstrate is the use of gestures which is integral to the usefulness of this generation's tablets. I've always felt that the basic for

I've been trying duckduckgo for a month now and I'm definitely not getting as good results for my "esoteric programming errors" as I hoped I would. I'm also shocked at how much I used google image search, losing that has been a shock. Now

I guess I look at the iPad/iphone/ipod touches more like consoles than computers, where I look at android more as computers. When you have a console, you want that eco system and hardware to last longer than it takes to develop the next gnu

It's pretty amazing that Apple is bucking the trend by releasing the iPad and iPhone once a year despite the rest of the industry releasing new models every month or two. There's nothing more frustrating than shopping for an android product

Reading that Rails is an "older project" kind of took me by surprise. I guess in internet years, it's about middle age now. My personal feeling is that Rails still does way more right than it does wrong. I find that I'm gravitating to the

I'm guessing that MS is using the cookie for a purpose that it was not intended for. That's not to say it's inappropriate, but it's up to them to understand the risks and make sure the app works in both states.
