Currently on XFCE and still can't find a simple way to have two monitors with different scaling. Any pointers would be appreciated!

I mentioned in another post I added the ability to comment on my items from RSS feeds with Mastodon accounts recently. Sure, it's not part of the protocol, but it does the job without any fuss and people who want to interact with me (t

I've made quite a few comments before on HN about how I have come to use RSS feeds- essentially as a way to distribute highlights rather than distributing entire articles or previews of entire articles with a meaningless blurb in the f

Quite a few people posting about the Windows experience as well in here although you only mentioned macOS and Linux, so I figured I'd chime in as well. I posted a day or so ago about wanting to migrate from Windows to Linux[1] after th

Thank you! Usually the only feedback that I get on the README is that it is "too long", so I really appreciate this comment. :)

They are all beautiful works of software, but nothing can really compare to the seamless experience of using a tool that you have designed to meet all of your needs from the ground-up. This is the downside of building your own tools (well)-

I maintain a tiling window manager for Windows[1]. It's the only thing still keeping me on Windows right now. I run NixOS on WSL, and I have a separate NixOS desktop partition that I iterate on from time to time. Once I can make my til

Update: I'm on the nixos-unstable "rolling distro" so I don't actually need to do anything. Also if anyone is wondering, nixos-unstable feels very stable as an end-user.

Last week I switched from my Arch VM to a NixOS 22.05 VM full-time and it has been an excellent experience so far. Looking forward to seeing and reporting back on what my first NixOS upgrade experience is like.

I use this extensively in bash scripts where I need to scrape HTML reliably and consistently. Cannot recommend it highly enough. In fact, all of the source data for a project of mine, Baytyab[1] (couplet-finder) was scraped using bash + pup
