We collect data from a number of sensors at once, at an interval of 15 seconds (nothing super high speed or precision, here), so a row contains only one timestamp (UNIX epoch), but several sensor readings. It's for an electricity meter

We actually see more on the order of a few 10s of MB per day (the data points are fairly small, and we've done some optimization to de-duplicate timestamps). Our entire database is currently less than 10GB.

As a n00b to init systems, who has recently started using Upstart with Ubuntu in production...should I switch to Systemd? What are the pros/cons over Upstart? Is there anything inherently flawed about the robustness of Upstart?

I wonder if the science on the 40-hour work week applies mostly to specialized jobs, or if it can be broadly applied to more generalized roles, i.e. _entrepreneur_, where one switches contexts several times per day/week. How many

At my job, the lack of high reliability/availability options for Redis was why we chose DelayedJob. This may have changed since we made that decision, but at the time there was no consensus on a solution in the Redis community.
