Next time I'm in a pub in Glasgow I'm so going to compliment a guy on the definition of his upper arms and then, if I'm still alive, move the discussion onto Dior's 1978 collection. Thanks for the tips!

Don't all non-Americans (like me), whenever they see pie in this context, quietly sing to themselves, "When a moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie..."?

Sorry, I was being a bit snarky there (if you make the bold keywords clickable, it of course obviates the need for the command prompt - but the command prompt is fun in and of itself, even if it's more cumbersome to use).

Idea for the next iteration: make the keywords in bold into links which can be clicked, then get rid of the command prompt.

Thanks one and all for the responses to my comment, which was written in some haste but seems to have generated useful discussion nonetheless. Just responding to this one, I would say that it really depends. If your task is implementing ana

I really don't see why it has to be that way, and if people feel like that, there's something weird going on. If you've been given a large feature that involves, say, analytics, there is surely nothing wrong with your standup

For anyone who looked at the repository linked from the Heroku app and was confused as to how this works (or indeed the extent of what it does), the actual transformation is being done server-side, using this: https://github.com&

I'm not really sure who the intended audience for this is! I find it quite difficult to imagine that anyone who doesn't already know what the functions do could actually figure it out from the descriptions, eg. "CDR function

I quite like the "contextual vertical align". Everything else I find either visually unappealing (eg. the ampersand, as already mentioned) or outright confusing (the equality glyphs in particular).

You're quite right. It's so long since I've used Rails with anything other than Postgres I knew that it couldn't be the default because of having to specify the configuration flag, but it escaped me that it would be SQLi

The actual default for Rails is SQLite [1], though a lot of people (perhaps a majority) use PostgreSQL. You certainly can use MongoDB with Rails via Mongoid, though I'm not sure vast numbers of people do, comparatively. For Node, well

See my other answer - I'm using "eight hours" as short-hand for "a reasonable amount of work to get the task done". I accept that wasn't clear. (We usually bill by the day so I often think in 8 hour slots!)

The biggest timezone gap we have is 3.5 hours, and they find it supremely convenient because they do other work in their morning. My company is based in the UK and we can only really work with people who can work in a moderately convenient

I work with a bunch of remote employees. My general policy is that I want them to be available to say "hi" and talk about the day at the start of the day (9am) in my timezone, and to give me a status update at the end of the day

I work with an English guy who's been in Amsterdam for a few years now and he often says "medior". He usually corrects himself to "middleweight" after a few seconds.

Someone asked the other day about how to get your first 100 users. I guess if you posted to each of these, that might (optimistically) do it. (I'm not suggesting this is a good idea!)
