i guess it depends if the authorization process reaches the other participants in some way or another ( such as a key derivation mechanism that can be verified by everyone) or if it's just a security feature to strengthen the login pro

Maybe the phone transfers a secret to the webclient, and that secret is then used by the other participant to certify it is indeed an "authorized" device, but i was under the impression that you had to rely on the server to correc

except sqrt(2) x sqrt(2) is even ( i know we're talking about numbers in Z in this case, and sqrt(2) definitely isn't in Z, but still) Which made me wonder if the original sentence isn't already assuming something about sqrt(

of course, i do test. But let's be honest, if the person writing the tests is the same as the one writing the code, chances are the tests won't discover flaws in the model of the original design.

I'm so glad the industry starts adopting formal proofs more and more... After 20 years in the industry i still feel like a caveman, coding as best as i can, hoping nothing bad will happen (and then sighing at the sight of the 100ks lin

I like the analogy. What would the equivalent of « adding safety margins » to a piece of critical code ? Building three of them with different technologies and making sure all return the same results ?

After 25y of dev xp, my only focus now is on simplicity (as in, making code obvious). However this is by far the most difficult thing to accomplish.

I don’t think password managers are ad-supported. One thing for sure, apple is going to leverage ios to make sure it’s better integrated to the OS, and it’s also going to make it harder for you to move to a competitor (android or windows).
