I've only once been able to snag a domain on the drop (everymentor.com). Though I've tried dozens of times for various domains, I always get beaten to the punch. What kind of resources do these guys have? Hundreds of EC2 instances poundin

Why not go the CDBaby, Bandcamp.com or Threaded route? You have musicians, they have music, why not create a marketplace around their persona and talent? Feature them, give them exposure. Get them sales . Just take your modest cut. 400k us

Not a lick of HTML is rendered by our backend in the 1.0 version of Zapier. It's all Backbone.js! We even have a (unusual?) nested view pattern that really helps us segment complicated logic. Our co-founder (mikeknoop on HN) even did a talk

Big props on stellar presentation. The code is impressive, but even better is their slick install, deploy, docs, screencast and examples. This looks big. If nothing else, hopefully others will notice the code to support materials ratio. Its

This is correct, and is the exact reason the AGPL was created ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affero_General_Public_License ): to close the "not really distributed" loophole in GPL.

Coffeescript is quickly becoming my favorite language for one little reason: it gets out of my way and I just get things done. What more can you ask for? My hats off to Jeremy and all the contributors. Thanks guys.

I find the funding side of the tech world is a bit like loan insanity around higher education. The price-to-benefit ratio is going up when it should be going down. One would image tech startups are experiencing progressively lower capital r

Awesome. Does this simplify the whole retrieval and setting of relationship as they are loaded via the standard fetch mechanism? A real pain point for us at with Backbone is transversing these relationships in JS. We end up doing redundant

The fact that the insurance companies acted so swiftly and decisively shows how vulnerable they are. It's pretty obvious that insurance is an industry whose margins are bolstered by consumer ignorance. I'm glad you guys are spending the tim

Could Minecraft be that little thing that teaches kids about logic? Maybe Jeb and co. should consider adding even simpler logic based building blocks, more akin to Lego's Mindstorm as an alternative to relays and switches. I find it fascina

This sounds a bit like the complement sandwich: start with a positive (where it works great), then criticize (where it falls short) and wrap up with another positive. Oddly enough, even though its a bit clichéd, it is a remarkably effective
