So you cut the cable service and replace it with internet service. The money goes to the same cable company, right? In my area, you have one choice for cable internet service. with the fastest internet plan and largest data cap available

Current insurance plans don't help much with preventative care. While a yearly 'physical' involving an 8 minute talk with a doctor is covered, insurance only pays 10% of lab work and a basic blood panel would cost me $900.

One more data point: Our pediatrician has always been great and keeps up with new treatments and such. When her husband was diagnosed with cancer, she said immediately they were leaving Iowa to get better cancer care. That said a lot.

Excellent idea for parents and grandparents that may not be into computers and the internet. Even for those that are, having a physical photo and note show up in the mailbox would be a great thing to brighten their day.

A comment heard from several friends: "Why save for retirement? One large medical expense can wipe out years of savings. You're better off enjoying life and spending what you earn while you can."

A $30 Turtlebeach Earforce Z11 is working well for me. Too big for travel, but fine to keep by the home desk.

If I'm buying a standing desk, the ergonomics need to be right and for me that means adjustable height. It would be nice to see a separate, adjustable monitor stand. It could ideally be used on the desk shown or one someone already ow

Who organizes how the data is stored? In some companies, the database is largely ignored until performance and scaling is an issue. At that point a DBA is brought in and the next months or even years are spent fixing the design so the ent

We created a system for database changes so they are part of the continuous integration process. With each build, all the database patches are applied. It took some time to create a set of rules and processes for this, of course. At this

If the one local area newspaper did more investigative reporting, I'd subscribe. Currently, it's 90% AP national news and advertisements with one a couple investigative articles every week or two.
