Right I guess that was your main point. This would be a pivot away from capitalism. But it’s unclear what would be a capitalism-based proposal which addresses the issues. Has anyone seriously proposed one?

There will be a workforce, it just won't be human-based. Capitalism has always existed without 100% employment, in every example someone needs to work to support others who cannot. Humans have done this under capitalism to support thei

We have to define AGI first. Then depending on the definition we may be able recognize it when we make it. Most would probably think a definition of AGI that we couldn’t recognize would not be a great definition. Also AGI almost certainly d

Notice parent said “comparable to” not “exactly like”. Then it is reasonable to assume there is a comparison to be made between your experience and others. It’s not a binary thing. Now llm “experience” might have a very tiny relationship to

Not sure why you're getting down voted but this does seem like the key point. There obviously is a major challenge in avoiding conspiratorial nonsense in societies with strong freedom of speech, but in this example we have China facing

Yeah for me Fable works great on the $100 plan. The problem with Fable is you will hit the weekly limit. The $200 plan does not give you 4x or even 2x the weekly limit. For me i only get about 1.3x weekly quota, so I don’t think it’s worth

Yeah, maybe I'm just getting older. Not sure how you would measure it, but maybe it would be % of posts with "nuanced" discussions. It feels like HN was gone way downhill in this regard, but who knows.

I find it surprising how many people think we're doomed when it comes to AI, and don't even want to try use this technology in a positive way. I'm not sure if this is a modern american cultural thing or what.

I think this is the wrong attitude to have. There is moral complexity in these topics and it's better for people to openly share their concerns rather than pick a side and "shut up". Yes you might find it annoying, but that&#
