I'm trying T-Mobile internet now. (super sick of calling Comcast every year when they double my rate so they can lock me into another contract) They sent a 4G LTE modem. I'm getting 5-24 Mbps down, 10-40Mbps up, and 40-60ms ping.

The Raspberry Pi is not a good example if you want control of the hardware. Closed GPU and microcode, no chance of finding actual hardware documentation (beyond coarse schematics), and no way to buy components. Broadcom is not aligned with

Presumably logging into your personal account would be what’s against their policy. They should have set up an account for that computer to use. It’s also surprising that they didn’t ship it to you in a usable state.

We can. They would be vastly more expensive than the telescopes we're building on earth, and uneconomical to fix or upgrade. One day we'll have synthetic aperture radiotelescope swarms in space. For now, it's a better use of

The transmission capability is part of the reason Arecibo would be so difficult to fix. The platform is almost 900 tons. China's FAST telescope was designed without transmit, mostly to save on suspended weight. Its focus cabin is only

One data point: when I was consulting a year ago, I had to run two fully virtualized desktops just to use the client's awful VPNs and enterprise software. Those VMs, plus a regular developer workload, made my 16GB laptop unusable. Upgr
