Are you talking about this thread? https://lists.launchpad.net/kicad-developers/msg14842.html Have you tried it? Gotta say, there are lots of Kicad dmgs out there, but I have yet to see one actually work well. I

Well, it's not really on Mac. (not unless you count running the Windows version in VirtualBox of course) This is the most promising installer at this point but it's still not very usable: http://discuss.wayneandlayne.c

Oof, you're right. Two paragraphs of content, then five paragraphs of advocacy. The FSF needs to concentrate on the task at hand. Leave the marketing somewhere else.

Debian and its many derivatives (including Ubunutu) use Dash, and the BSDs tend to use some form of Ash. I don't have the statistics but, if it's true that a majority of distros still use Bash for noninteractive use, it's a

If I understand correctly, readers never need to wait for the grace period. Careful ordering of operations ensures they can charge at full steam and yet always have a consistent view of the hash table. The grace period is only necessary to

Because then a single firmware bug could wipe you out. Once the drives all hit 4500 hours or 700 bad blocks or some other trigger, they die. It's happened before. Could also be caused by bad grease, or shoddy bearings, or pretty much

No, to fit perfectly, the type C plug would have been invented to cover the use cases of all of the the previous plugs. That was not the motivation.

Everybody agrees that the mini plug was a mistake. For better or for worse, the USB IF would like to pretend like it never happened.

Downvoted because enough is enough! The "14 competing standards" comic was really funny the first few hundred times it was snarked into HN comments.

Also, Osmos is a good game to develop an orbital intuition. Oversimplified but easy to approach. There is a deviously difficult level toward the end where they give you just enough fuel to compute the level... Unless you keep your delta-

I was hoping that it was just a form of `git merge -s ours` but, you're right, the manpage makes it look a lot scarier. I read the linked blog post and I still don't see a good use case for git replace. I can think up a lot of

Nice. I wrote a similar tool for Rails / ActiveRecord models: https://github.com/bronson/table_differ It takes snapshots and computes diffs between snapshots or the live database. It lets me drop and re-import s

Yes, here's the announcement: http://blog.angularjs.org/2014/04/angular-and-durandal-conve... If it reaches anywhere near its potential it's going to be awesome.

I had the same experience. Gulp is simple and beautiful once you get it. And it's so much faster than Grunt. Alas, at this point, my build needs are also being handled by Webpack. And, if I'm faced with something weird, I'

Nah, I just couldn't picture anyone doing woodwork in hundreds or thousands of units (now, where did I get that idea...?), or dividing base 10 units. Since it sounds like wood is sold and worked in base 12, I'd use metric no prob

Of course, but it would be a little harder, a little more to keep track of. More precision than necessary. People prefer to use dollars and not cents, don't they?
