Except Boeing's Starliner so far has cost Nasa almost 2X as much as SpaceX, and is aiming for prices at around 2/3 more per astronaut (55mil SpaceX vs 90mil Boeing). If it's a horse rase, the plough horse is neck-and-neck wit

Good point. If there’s a database that rivals Mongo for shady sales tactics, it’s Oracle.

Same with a major retailer I worked for. They recently succeeded... by moving to a mainframe emulator in the cloud. The crusty batch software written in the early 80s is still running unchanged.

Hannah Fry covered this pretty well for a non-maths audience: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0bn9dth Yes, the closer you look, the more difficult it gets.

No matter how easy it is, if it takes 30 sec of cranking to switch heights I’d do it way less often. This also goes for those irritating slow electric versions where you need to hold a button down for 30 sec.

And it’s a responsibility/pain for the facilitator when it’s on. Often they‘ll be caught up in the meeting and leave anyone who arrived 3 minutes late to spend the rest of the meeting waiting to be admitted.

What makes you think they’re unstealthy? I doubt there’s even a tiny bit of metal in them. If they’re made out of Teflon, PVC, and exotic composites, they’ll have barely any radar return. They’re just propulsors. The motor is inside the air
