Do you get upset when someone uses a flat head screwdriver to open a paint can? Surely that was not its intended use, but tools can be used to accomplish a larger set of tasks than the original itch they scratched.

How is using text find to move to where you want "tricking" the program? With Easy Motion that type of cursor movement becomes even easier. Using a mouse just slows a vim/emacs user down.

That's the opinion of the generation trained without the technology. What about a new welder who learns by using the HDR mask? Could that improve their performance and productivity overall given equal time and training?

My high school offered a joint enrollment with a nearby public university. Taking my senior year there was by far the best decision I made in high school, and way more illuminating and engaging than if I had signed up for all AP courses.

Not everyone who does this was in a CS Program. When I learned about them, I went with a lock-free model for my own project because semaphores seemed to add more complexity than they solved. I can understand the author's desire not to use t

There's a reason the chicken poop causes your tomatoes to grow bigger and taste better. I don't imagine you'd feed that poop to a cow thinking it would grow bigger and tastier.
